NatureVision

Description
Imagine a future where nature has vanished completely. In response to a brief from the Gemeente of Groningen, our team created a VR time capsule that lets players experience what the natural world might have been like — a reminder of what’s at stake and an invitation to nurture it. Through immersive environments and interactive mechanics, the game encourages reflection, exploration, and curiosity in a world without nature.
Goals/History
One of the earlier major scale projects I worked on, I prioritized my focus on making mechanics that felt both realistic but still engaging, with some focus on the level/environment design, designing for an overall more sandbox playstyle where the player is encouraged to make their own objectives. I also was involved with the creation/implementation of most of the games mechanics and features.

Main Roles
-
Terrain
A good terrain would be necessary for this kind of experience to reach the goals it does, but there was a caviatte of organizing everything in a way where all the mechanics can be experienced in the game easily, but not make the environment feel too artificial. Basing off the strengths & limitations of the Unity VR system, I made the environement pretty compact, but still giving space for the player to just enjoy walking through the trees and landmarks, based on my own hiking experiences. After the layout was clearly defined, I placed the assets of the environments as made by my teammates.

-
Fish & Spear
Everyone contributed to each aspect of development in this project, my main programming aspects in this one being the spear fishing mechanic & the fish themselves and their AI. I wanted to simultate real life, simply, the fish would get skewered to the tip of the spear when the tip touches the fish, the spear can be thrown or carried. Fish AI is simple, but is meant to simulate real fish. All in all this helped in maming the game more lively.

-
Main Menu
Nothing too complicated, helped in giving the game a more professional aspect to it. Even added transitions between the menu scene and the in game scene.
